Police Shoot man After Pursuit in Torrance

Torrance Police shot and killed a man early Saturday morning after a short police pursuit and failed attempts to stop the suspect. It all began at two in the morning on Saturday in the city of Torrance. Torrance police officers attempted to pull over an alleged reckless driver in a green Ford Ranger. When the driver refused to pull over, a chase began. Police tried to implement the PIT maneuver to stop him, but the first one failed to accomplish the task. However, the second attempt brought the vehicle to a halt, and then the shooting occurred. At this time it is unclear what exactly lead to the officer involved shooting, but the suspect was pronounced dead at the hospital later that day. We do not know whether the suspect was armed or not, but officials assured reporters that the shooting is being investigated by acting Torrance Police Captain Jeremiah Hart as well as the shooting team of the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Justice System Integrity Division.
